  1. I recently started trying what i thought were minor adjustments on my guitar. I've been trying to adjust my truss rod and action. I watch videos and it looks so easy. When I try myself I feel like an idiot because it doesn't go as well as those stupid videos. Long story short... I ended up ruining a $3,000 LP by messing up the truss rod. It turns with no resistance and doesn't adjust neck at all. So it's off to pay for a $1,000 repair. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not smart enough to work on my own guitars. I have a deep seeded resentment towards those people in the videos that make it look like a good idea to try. I guess I'm destined to always cough up the cash to have a pro do it for me.
  2. I just had my new Slash Standard LP delivered and I was disappointed to see that the truss rod cover had Standard written on it instead of the Slash signature. All the other Slash models on the companies site had the Slash signature. So wtf happened here? I'm thinking about returning it even the the company says they're getting one from gibson to send to me. Keep in mind that this is a new guitar $3,199. How did this happen? Does gibson sometimes put the wrong cover on their new guitars, or is this company trying to rip me off? Can any gibson people tell me what they think please, and thank you.
  3. Very simple stupid question I'm sure but, which tubes sound better with a Les Paul Standard playing stuff like GnR and Aerosmith, Zepplin? From what I understand 6L6 are more for Metal, and EL34 are better for Hard rock. I went out and Bought an EVH 5150 50 watt head, and not really getting the warmth I was looking for, but plenty of crunch, and now I'm thinking maybe go more simple with a DSL 40. Maybe a simple Marshall would be best for what I want. My main guitar is a Gibson Les Paul Standard Slash model. I know everyone had different thoughts on what they like, but I'm looking for some advice on if switching for EVH 6L6 to Marshall EL34 is a good idea.
