  1. No more studios? C'mon... post pics of your studios, I'll try to take a pic of mine and post it... but anyway, it's an old (80s) white with gold hardware studio... (beaten to hell).

  2. I seem to remember reading they were set up for - and equipped with - 12-56(?).

That would make sense, remember guys, originally they were meant for jazz, so most probably they were also flat (damn, I hate those flat strings).

  3.

Gibson stopped "stamping" seconds in 85... Alot of guitars still come out of the factory today with flaws however they just dont declare or sell it as a second anymore..

    Flight959

Why would they? Almost 75% of the production gets dented at GC by stupid a-holes anyway.

  4. I think no one here hates those guitars... I am a big fan of faded finishes myself... find them a lot more confortable than "normal" finishes... (on Gibsons that is... if we talk fender, well, the american line comes with a satin neck back... so theres no problem there... Gibson should do this: glossy body and satin/faded back of neck).

I think all of them come with a case with white interior.

I think they look good, but if you change all the black plastic to cream, you'll se a great guitar and will never think the same of one with all black plastic (2 guys here did just that and those guitars ended up gorgeous... pics guys? PICS!).

  5. The fantastic world of speaker upgrading... it gets worst than guitar modding... really... you think they sound better and then you listen to or hear from yet another upgrade that "is a must" hehehe... GAS GAS GAS

  6. It is cheaper to buy the speakers separately (like 100 or so cheaper).

But if you dont want to install them or dont know how to do it... probably a tech will charge you 100 or so for the job...

Now what was the point of that?

I changed mine... bought the one with warfedale speakers ("vox speakers") and upgraded them to celestions... I am thinking about upgrading again to eminence red fangs... they are made after the celestion blues but, are made in england (correct me if I'm wrong but didnt celestion move the factory to china a while ago? I'm home and cant look into my amp!).

  7. someone best describe the sound you get when matching an LP with a VOX

I could describe the sound you get as blue or green... even pink... but I guess you'll have to try one with a Gibson: Just like entering heaven... thousands of angels singing at the same time... very harmonic sound... easy on the ears... tasteful... imposible to forget.

  8. Welcome to the forum! stop by the "post your les paul pics" thread and post some of yours!

Hey elessar820 were you the one who changed his bfgs configuration? first time i like a bfg man... dont know why gibson didnt make them like you modded yours (you should sell your "mod", i know a lot of guys would pay for doing that to their bfgs)

  9. You seem to get your fair share of idiots in your studio!

You must have a lot of patience.

Thats the worst of it... i dont have a lot of patience, but i really love this job, and well it feels good to take them out of ignorance and help them learn theres more to life than knowing how to play ONE dream theatre riff (most "recording" musicians here are under 25 and know the same riff from the same dream theatre song, and think thats all there is to know).

  10. I havent seen one either... but there was a time when epi made this strat type guitar... not their best i know, but it wasnt their flagship either.

That said, i have a very good oppinion regrading epiphone les pauls and SGs, have owned both (les paul standard, custom, even this special II, and G-400s). I think they are top quality for the price, wouldnt buy one if they costed more but at the price you can find them at, its like you can own a color for each day of the week.

Of course i wouldnt go so far as to compare them with gibsons (er even say they are better as some guys do) but they are good. Dont know why a lot of people look down on epis... they are just fine.

  11. Today a guy comes to the studio and stares amazed at my modded epi (she shines more than my gibson for obvious reasons (standard faded)) and asks me details... i explain its a modded epi and he says "epiphone... they are like "fake fenders" arent they?, you know... cheap versions of real fenders"

To keep it simple I tell him: no they are licensed and very good lower cost gibson guitars, you know, like mexican fenders are to amercian fenders (didnt want to go into the squier thing as for me epis are above squiers)...

Guy says (after scratching his head for a while): no, i read somewhere that they were cheap copies of fenders... i even read fender bought epiphone after a lawsuit or something".

LMFAOROTF! never got to explain him in detail what an epi is as we were a little short on time (f"ckn a-hole showed up at the studio an hour late and the people paying him was very upset, glad it was them that insisted in working with him).

Half an hour ago the session was going exectly nowhere... so i grabbed my trusty Gibson Les Paul and did the job myself (free of charge as the whole song was like, 3 chords and a small and slow lead after 2nd chorus).

    The good stuff:

    - Another happy client

    - Another "i can play a gazzillion notes a minute" boy bites the dust.biggrin.gif/

Please dont tell me they are indeed buying epi! hehehe](*,)
