I have one of the '61 RI GOWs and it has a "standard" 9 digit serial number

6 PIECES? That's insane!
It makes no difference to the sound. Ever look at how many pieces there are in a hollowbody or an acoustic? My GF has an old Guild that her ex left. The X-bracing had cracked and somebody has repaired it with JB Weld or Bondo and it still sounded good side by side with the vintage Martin my luthier had in his shop. As long as the wood is good and acoustically attached the number of pieces doesn't mean that much.

My '61 is painted white so I can't tell but who cares: it SOUNDS GREAT!

2007 - it was the week 26 guitar from last years "Guitar of the Week " series. Still has that nice new nitro smell to it!
