There are tons of Inspired by Gibson models and only some state CTS electronics. What model is it?

Are you getting another one?
im glad you were able to return it without any hassle
no, might try the ltd edition 59 Les Paul when it comes out, that gets QC checked in USA so might help catch the finish issues

I read it's the frets that are dirty but I have already returned the guitar. Great service from Dawsons Music and Paypal even covered the return shipping.

Received this amazing guitar today, it plays so great, love the new (old) headstock shape. Great action, no buzzing and intonation seems fine. I'm familiar with the slim taper neck from the 50th Anniversary 1962 Sheraton, which funnily enough has the same Kalamazoo headstock, which is why I went for the 60s over the 50s. Plus I already have a Korean Les Paul Custom which has a fatter neck which I find less enjoyable to play.
Sadly there are a few finish issues so I'm pondering about returning it. Here they are, in the order I noticed them:
- Dirty marks embedded in the binding on left side of first and second frets.
- Nut is offset very slightly to the right and not smooth with the neck.
- Possible fracture deep in the finish at the nut.
- Tiny curve cut out of the neck pickup surround.
- Trust rod cover screws are in at angle, the same angle, quite far off straight.
- Not sure if it is dirty strings or the laurel wood but my fingers get extremely dirty which playing, most likely strings just need a good clean.
Would anyone else return it because of these issues or am I being too picky? I used a coupon to get a great price which I may forfeit if I returned it, and if I exchange I always the chance of getting one in a worse state.

you could try the moisture absorbing crystal sacks that come with new guitars.

It's in this Anderton's video and they say it's rumoured to have rosewood which they have already put on their spec. I noticed it has a matte finish (they area calling "aged") or maybe just missing the lacquer coating. Comes with quite a price premium, £699 vs £499 for 50s and £529 for 60s.

Epiphone will hopefully be releasing a USA made Riviera to match their new USA made Casino

Some of these 2019 models have already been available in other parts of the world, like the 355 Pro with block inlay could have been got from Aliexpress for several years. The Les Paul Lite was in Korea in Feb 2019. Personally I'm not a fan of the lighter fingerboard but in the video they say it would be possible to oil the board to make it darker, if that's the case then why don't Epiphone just do that at the China factory?

before you make any adjustments try new strings. I had some crazy problems and the saddles wouldn't move far enough. Then after I replaced strings I had to put them all back to the original place so it was a complete waste of time.

Just putting this out there to anyone interested according to Amazon, AMS has six 1962 Sheratons left in stock.
sold out of cherry now. I guess that was the most popular color then.

Congrats on getting yours in. Mine was supposed to be either in or shipped by Jan. 15th. It still hasn't arrived to my dealer. I just contacted them today to see what the hold up was. This has been the first time I ordered something direct before it hit retailers. So far it has been a pretty crappy experience. I ordered in mid November and I have yet to receive a problem free Sherry :( .
Can you just cancel your dealers order and get it from AMS? AMS still have all colors in stock and with the 10% coupon code and BeFrugal cashback it might be much cheaper. Also their return policy is really good if it has a problem, the ship you a new one free as soon as you email your return shipping receipt.

AMS are now selling returned guitars at $200 off, might be worth calling to see what the "minor cosmetic imperfections" actually are. If someone got one with gold peeling off the pickup like mine (which Gibson replaced) might be a real bargain there. Weird they have returned guitars in all the colors, might be a sign of a large production problem.

Hi I'm new to this forum, I've been offered the opportunity to buy one of these 1962 Sheraton in cherry for £450 deal or no deal. Can anyone recommend please any feedback greatfully recieved

Ah, I see what you mean now. I can't say I have noticed that issue on mine. In fact I would say the neck is one of the things I love most about it.
My neck is excellent too, as playable if not more playable than a Les Paul. It's not one of the chunky necks like on the Korea Sheraton, Dot or ES-355 those all gave me hand aches and just didn't have that pick-me-up-and-play-me-anytime feel this 1962 has.

Even though I only asked for the pole pieces, Gibson are sending me a whole new pickup and they don't even want the old one back. Should get it in 10 days.
Received the replacement pickup today after 15 days, they said it would be 10 days and they sent a bridge instead of a neck but not to worry (maybe I had said the wrong one cant remember I was only interested in new pole pieces anyway). It was easy enough to replace the pole pieces and the gold in the new one looks much better and didn't peel off when I used the screw driver to screw them in. So now I guess I have a spare Gibson USA bridge pickup to ebay.
Also I put on a set of Gibson Bright Wire 10s and they play amazingly light, just like the factory strings I had before I had replaced them with D'Addario to fix my intonation issue, I'm so glad I got it to feel like it did when it first arrived.
This might be getting really picky now but is the sides of the volume knobs supposed to be transparent? On my cherry I have a gold hat and a blob of black but if you look from the sides they are transparent. Are the gold ones on the natural version like that too?

The 1965 is the closest match to the reissue I saw so far in terms of the sunburst, at least from the front view.
yeh the reissue doesnt have the sunburst on the back or on the edges:
This one looks more of a gradual bursth than the others but maybe just the lighting.
-
Longman had the same problem - here's his "before" pic:
But it's an easy fix.
I wonder why the sunburst goes so close to the edge on the ears compared to the original:
-
the ones without the numbers were probably sent from china to Europe and were never set up in the usa in nashville. They probably don't even count to the 1,962.
-
wonder why the sunburst looks so different from the promo pics

Wow sorry about your cracked neck. That must have happened in transport but I don't understand why since its shipped in a hard case.

I'm really picky, so that guitar would be going back if it was mine. If i doesn't bother you then I'd just leave it.
Looks like they have some left in stock so maybe they would give you a replacement....
Is the gold on your polepieces fine on both pickups?
So I called AMS and they said they would replace it free of charge and the process will take about 7 days but I need to talk to their techs first who are already closed for the day. They said if I like, I can call Gibson to see about getting replacements but AMS wouldn't help with that, and I can't get through to Gibson on the phone line maybe they are closed for the day too. So I think tomorrow I'll first call Gibson then if that fails I'll call AMS and begin the exchange process...

I unfortunately have another problem, the gold is bubbling and peeling off the polepins on the neck pickup. It's strange because the pins on the bridge pickup look absolutely fine. Do you know if I called Epiphone would they sent replacements? Or should I call American Musical Supply where I bought it? It doesn't seem worth returning the whole guitar for this issue.
I've considered taking off the pickup to see if it is in fact a Gibson but worried about stripping the gold heads of the screws.
