Hi,
I love the neck pickup in my MM 2007, but not the bridge.
I want to put a dogear P90 in the bridge to get that Junior sound. Anyone done it before?
Obviously the wood would need routing underneath and the plastic pickguard altering.
I'm trying to avoid replacing the entire pickguard as I can't seem to get a 2 pickup replacement guard with a single P90 slot.
I've attached a picture of a dogear casing on top of the current pickup. I think it is probably do-able but seems it might be a difficult job.
There is a Seymour Duncan drop in Singlecoil sized P90 but I can't get it in the UK. And I do wonder how much it will sound P90 esque.
One of the Most Underrated Gibson's out there! One of my all time Favorite Guitars. Good luck with the Pickup.

It would be really cool if Sal bought it back. I know he really liked it....

What is the purpose of the soundhole cover. What is the need to use it?
Well if you are referring to the Port Hole cover - Once the Port is covered up you get a bit more sound out thru the Sound hole - Of course without it the sound almost circles your head in a good way.

A Great lower cost Gibson made in the US! I bought one. And the sound port cover does provide a decent amount of sound thru the Sound Hole - but it's not Ground breaking. I luv the string spacing and neck shape on these models - They really feel good in my hands. I know some folks are not bowled over by these guitars - But I feel they play and Sound just fine. And for an American Made Gibson Acoustic - It's really worth the cost - They are very affordable. I Luv Sal's Pickguard change!

Beautiful Guitar! Enjoy it!

Thanks Guys - It is a Fun Guitar

I recently picked up a new Old stock Gibson G-45 with the Sound port. (This is my Second one) I liked the first one I owned - It plays and sounds like a Gibson. I also ordered a Sound Port cover which Gibson finally got back in stock. The Guitar is a very Plain Jane 45 Style Guitar - and the Spruce and Walnut sound Good together. I went for it because the prices on these have really dropped with the Soft Guitar market we are Experiencing right now. The price was almost too good to be true - and it came with the Full factory Warranty. It Truly is a Fun Guitar to play but its not going to win any Beauty Contests.

Still I have a serious feeling the Faded guards differ from the TVs, Vintage and so called 1960 Birds. Take a look here and notice several variations.

and Faded

yes your probably right - The Hand etched ones are for the Higher cost Birds.

My 2022 Hummingbird does have Indents in the Pickguard😀

Congratulations and enjoy. One question on the pickguard. Is the image engraved and hand painted or just a screenprint over plastic? Either way it'll sound fabulous
As far as I know - They are still hand painted. But not positive...

I think it's Swell!

Thanks Ego - Go on YouTube and look up - Gibson Hummingbird Faded vs Original - Which One Sounds Better? (Acoustic letter) Music Villa
That's a Great sound example😀

Yep - I figured if I ever wanted a high gloss HB again - a can of rubbing compound will do it.

So a little less nitro and it’s $500 cheaper. Why don’t they do that with every model?
I hear you Sarge - They are selling a group of the Faded series - that are based on the original models. And as you might already know Martin now offers Satin versions of their 18 and 28 series Guitars for less money.
-
Yep Sarge - It is an identical "build wise" as the Original HB - Just the Satin finish instead of full Gloss. And it is about 500.00 less than the Original - much more hands on time with a full gloss. Thanks for the kind words.

Well about a week ago I purchased a New Gibson Faded Hummingbird. First of all it is not Faded it
is a Satin finished guitar (Meaning less nitro Laquer) This guitar was on my bucket list.
I owned a Hummingbird Original within the last year - I had to sell it for Financial reasons - But I knew if I could buy another one same day I would. The satin Finished Bird is close to identical to the Original I owned - just a lot less Gloss. To me - Something about The Square shoulder Gibson acoustic's are very magical to me. I am a big Martin endorser but this Gibson gives me as much pleasure as my Rosewood Martin. This is the best "singing with" guitar out there. Believe me Gibson Acoustics are not inexpensive Guitars - But I think if you own one you will see their value is equal to cost. To me - They play easier than most guitar's I have owned - Even some Taylor's. My First pro Gibson was a 94' Gibson Gospel that I loved but I was bit by the Martin bug.
I owned a First Edition Sheryl Crow Gibson - which was Unbelievable. That was the one that got me back on the Bozeman wagon. And my honest opinion is the Acoustic's coming out of Bozeman Montana today are the finest Acoustics that Gibson has ever made.

I played a new Epiphone Melody maker at my Local shop last week - probably need a slight setup but the Fret ends where smooth and it played well. The Pickups were OK and it was very light. So for 179.00 not a bad Guitar at all. I have a Gibson Melody maker that I would never sell.....
