  1. First time owning my very own Gibson Les Paul. It was love at first sight. The playability on this thing is amazing. [flapper]

I did make some minor changes already. Replace the black speed knobs for some nice amber top hats which I think suits it better. Also replaced the single-ply pickguard which was bugging me, looks cheap, with a nice 5-ply pickguard.

I like the look of the new knobs and the pickguard. I may have to get one of those 5 ply guards for my alpine white studio.

Did it come with the gold TRC? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

  2. He makes minimum wage (plus commission)...which will tell you a lot. [biggrin]

Also, it's been my ufortunate experience, in too many GC's, that their

"display" models, are often quite "used/abused", even though they claim

they are "brand new," and "just recently put on display!" Right!!

True story. I made sure when i got my G-400 that it came out of the box in front of me.

Not that it matters now since i've done a good job dinging it up, but at least i know I was the one to do it. [laugh]

  3. I will happily bet anyone £10000 that in a blind test they can't pick 30 swisscheesed LPs from 30 totally solid ones, plugged in, unplugged, whatever. You just listen, blindfolded and pick them out. Tell you what, if you can come out at 80% accurate we'll call that a win. That should be a large enough sum to make it worth anyone travelling to London for this so line up, who's first?

Remember though, the only way anyone found out about the swiss cheese was because a canny owner happened to watch his LP go through the X-ray at an airport. Before that, no one knew.

I'll throw in $10,000 for good measure. :)

  4. Depends what you like. Have you had a chance to try out a few Standards or Traditionals? I know the new Traditionals are not weight relieved and will be a little heavier. So if you want a heavier guitar, then the Traditional may be for you. My advice is to try a bunch of different guitars, go to a bunch of different shops until you find the one you like.
