Not sure I agree there - cause the T-type Calibrated pups don't get close to the clazziks, but obviously do something new. They provide an updated contemporary version of the 335. Clearer and without that old-school grand-dad's-vintage-electric-guitar-voice some people treasure, miss and hunt so passionately.

As Morety and others say, the knobs are there for a reason and will easily roll off the top if it seems too bright. You can also find your way down to the wellknown jazzy plus/minus 1970s European serious folk-rock tone. Yet again - it will not appear to be a retro-version of the legendary PAF or P-90 flavor.

I own several modern Gibsons with different modern versions of Humbuckers.. I’ve played just about everything from 1959 PAF’s to just about every HB from then to now.. I have never heard a Humbucker that sounds as good as the PAF’s in my old 1959 ES-345 Stereo.. There was nothing old man about them! They did it all! So far, IMO, none compare.. Some come close but still, no Cigar..

great tip.  back in "79 I had a Strat refinished and while putting everything back together, stretching one of the springs to the bridge block the needle nose pliers slipped and a big ol scratch across the back of the freshly painted Strat body. that was a 3 Marlboro mistake ... before I calmed down.

Bummer! I think we’ve all done it.. I know I have..

  3. For those of us who don’t exactly have a delicate touch.. Apply a piece of Painters tape on wood areas where you’re working to protect the finish from possible scratches… Sometimes Screwdrivers slip…

  4. I’ve had 3 Snarks, 2 broke & one that I’m sure will at some point.. Great invention poorly made…

I keep looking at the others….

Meanwhile, I’ve had the Wireless X Vives for a 3-4 years & loved them.. Until the Rechargeable Batteries won’t recharge. I went to buy some new rechargeable batteries & asked how to change them. They said, you can’t.. So, I went to YouTube. There’s a guy who figured out how to do it but broke a couple Sets before figuring it out.. But, it’s not an easy process & most of us will break them in the process.. The Solution is to throw them away & buy some new ones.. Another great Invention poorly made..

  5. My recent 65 PRRI & my 65 DRRI were built at the Fender factory in Corona, Ca. (Neither are Hand Wired) Still they are great Amps! Especially the 65 PRRI with the 10” Spkr.

I agree the Falcon 20’s price is lower than any comparable major brand USA Amp with the same features I’ve been able to source.. I’m actually interested in trying one out..

Vox has just released their new line of HW Amps.. Their hype says they researched all the best vintage Amps & found out what made them tick.. Then they go on to tell you all the new changes they’ve made to make them better ????? Then they don’t say where they’re built.. But, sources are saying Vietnam?

FWIW,  I bought a Falcon 20 a little more than a week ago and have been playing it since every day. Short comment....IMO, it's a great amp. If anyone would like a more detailed review, ask away.....

How does it compare to a Fender 65 DRRI or a Vox AC15 with a Celestion Alnico Blue Speaker?

Out of curiosity where are you at now? I’m in Newport Beach. If there are enough SoCal members maybe we could organize some kindof get together or jam?

I’m in Palm Springs.. I do spend a lot of time at the Beaches from San Diego to Newport Beach..

I get together with my part time British Invasion Band “The Fab-Tones” at a great little Rehearsal Studio in Santa Ana that’s right around the corner from Rickenbacker.. We all are in other Bands but get together to play & do some side Gigs once in a while..

I’d be interested in getting together some time..

No one is going to blow up the planet ever. It would be the most ididotic thing to do ever. You think people in branches of the military in foreign countries are any different than ours? Nope. No one and I mean no sane person WANTS to die for their country.  I don't care how big of a bad a-ss you are or think you are, Death is final and we all know it.

    Tell that to suicide bombers…

But, like I said, It’s only because there is a balance between the good & the evil that we haven’t.. Now we have ways to do it without destroying the Planet.. Pandemics.. Virologists are now working on Viruses 15-50% more powerful than Covid 19.. Yet it isn’t even an issue?

Lots do that right now. I pay taxes. I don't kick the dog when she pees on the rug. I'm a stand up guy. I even leave a tip at a restaurants.

I'm not trying to insult your family at all. You the only one who has had a son or daughter go to college and graduate? Hell my stupid a-ss even did it. Is the world a better place because of it?

No.. Lots of kids go to College. Some are great some aren’t. Some excel & some don’t. But, my Grandkids are in the upper percentile of Students who excel & are a positive force.

There has always been good & bad.. Just different times. But since the end of WWII If there wasn’t any balance between the good & bad we would’ve blown this planet up a long time ago….
