  1. Hello Everyone!! I hope you are all doing well jamming this weekend! I just had a quick question about getting some type of "official spec sheet" on older models? I am creating a digital portfolio for each of my guitars with original documents as well as any official specs sheets, etc. Specifically I have a 1987 ES-335, a 1989 ES-175, a 2004 Les Paul and a 2003 Explorer '76. I have gotten some information on my newer Gibsons either from their current site of the legacy site, but it does not go back that far. Is there any way to find something like this for these older instruments? And yes I have tried searching, but I couldn't find what I was looking for. Thank you and have a great day!
  2. I tried that already. Sadly the person who traded it in did not get them either when he originally purchased it supposedly.
  3. Hello all, I know the odds of this working are non-existent, but I figured it couldn't hurt. As you saw from my other thread I recently purchased #75 of the 81 Scotty Moore Signature Custom Shop ES-295s and there was supposed to be a black envelope that contained things such as the packing checklist as well as a picture of Scotty signing the guitars and telling how to take care of the finish. I was just curious if the original owner happened to be on this board and would be willing to sell/send the document folder if you still have it. The guitar was traded into Wild West Guitars in Pasadena California. Thank you for reading and have a great day!
  4. Thanks guys! It is taking some getting used to as it is so different form anything else I have, but I love it!
  5. Well my friends the guitar finally arrived! It is absolutely beautiful in person! I have nothing like it in my collection! Whoever owned it definitely played it in a smokey bar or something as there was a slight haze to it and pick scuffs, but with some virtuoso polish and wax it looks shiny and ready for action! I was kind of freaked out at first. The guitar shipped without the bridge in place! I have never seen a bridge like this Melita and just kind of put it on and hoped for the best. I'll have to check the intonation when I plug it in later today. I am so proud to own this piece of history! Thank you again for all of your help and advice!
  6. I will definitely post pictures when I get it! It is arriving next week. I DO intend to play it, but it is also the most expensive guitar I own and I just want to take the best care of it as I do with all of my guitars. I was just curious if there was anything specific beyond the usual in taking care of the finish to prevent it from greening. If it is just business as usual then I'll be good to go! I always keep my guitars in their cases so direct sunlight won't be an issue. Thank you both for your input and help!
  7. Hello Everyone, I recently purchased one of the 81 Gibson ES-295 Scotty Moore signature models from 2013 and I had a question about the finish. I have never had a guitar like this and it is quite probably future collectors piece and I just wanted to know if anyone had some cleaning/maintenance tips for this gold/bronze finish? I know it has a tendency to green over time. Is there a special polish, product, or technique to use? I know I want to avoid rubbing the signature with anything. I don't want the guitar to be a case queen, but I would like to preserve the finish as long as possible. Also should a hollowbody guitar like this be humidified? Thank you for reading and have a great day!
  8. Thank you for the reply sir! I will take a look at those and other wider variants. I found straps made by Kirk Hammett that are really nice, but REALLY expensive.
  9. Hello All, I just had a quick question as I have experienced something I never have before with a guitar. I recently found a vintage 1987 Gibson ES-335 (Amazingly my birth year AND month. What are the odds?) and there is an issue that I have never come across before which is surprising considering I have a Les Paul Traditional and Studio. The guitar is VERY heavy and so much so that the extra strap I had laying around the house doesn't do a very good job of distributing weight and I have a very sore shoulder every time I play it. For those who have experienced issues such as this what are some good strap options you have found to help alleviate this problem? It is my only minor complaint for a great guitar I bought sight unseen. Risky I know, but it was a good gamble in this case!!! Thank you very much!
