  2. After some thought i've decided not to go and get a masterbilt guitar, i've decided I'm happy with my dr100 as i tested the sh141 shadow pick up on it against an ej200ce and it was just as good but with no volume control so I'm sticking with it. But the gear acquisition syndrome is calling and i fancy my hand at a cheap classical guitar :) for finger style and use without a plectrum I'm looking at the Epiphone pro 1 spanish and classical which are the same except the nut width i think or a fender esc105. Anybody thoughts on those guitars would be appreciated
  3. Hi guys i watched a fender tutorial video on changing strings then went for it, everything went great, guitar is holding tune well, after slightly stretching the strings before tuning i also did my friends lorenzo guitar with same model strings, and that went good as well, think i been putting it off all this time in case i was heavy handed but its fine, fyi i took all the strings off at once and changed the strings in 10 min per guitar everything ok
  4. I've just purchased a set of D'Addario custom lights (EJ26 Phosphor Bronze) to go on my DR100, any input on these strings is appreciated as there not fitted yet, but, i was just wondering, what model D'Addario's come standard on the DR100? i know the size but not the model of string. Also i'm only changing from light (M140) 12-54 martin strings so I'm assuming ill get away with not adjusting the truss rod or anything more specialist :)
  5. Is this replacing the DR500 ? Are the electronics and build more for less ? Looking at the DR500 & AJ45 but will keep my eye on this if its coming out next month
  6. Sweet thanks for that, I'm going on holiday in October and when i come back i will be committing to purchase but i most likely try them out in the next few weeks. I take it its the AJ with the shorter scale ? Only snag is the dr500 i can try out is the natural finish so I'm hoping it won't affect my judgement lol as I'm more into my sunburst. I mainly sit down playing so wondering how the AJ will sit on my lap compared to the dreadnought. do you notice any difference regarding the pick ups both played in mono as recording is something i can see myself doing with my next guitar and depends on the day whether or not i get to try them plugged in. Im gonna keep my dr100 as a travel/spare guitar as its served me well and I've modded it with a shadow sh141 pick up which is very nice but i fancy something a bit higher quality now.
  7. I have a DR100 and I've decided my next upgrade guitar is going to be an Epiphone Masterbilt, i just haven't decided if its going to be a DR500 or an AJ45. I'm used to the dreadnought size but does anybody have any input on what the AJ45 will be like compared to a dreadnought and if both these guitars have the same neck anyway. I don't see what advantage i would have from stereo pick ups in the DR500 but i do like the cutaway but aren't sure if I'm going to be spending much time in the upper frets anyway ? I do like the traditional look of the AJ45 and its more simple pick up system. I do have access to both these guitars about 40 miles away from where i live so when i get the chance i will try them out, just not sure if i'll notice too much of a difference. Im assuming there both the same quality and both solid woods. Thanks John !
  8. Its good mate, sounds really solid wall of sound thats good for that sort of Rock. I do have a question though do you keep the bass player clean and let the main guitar have the distortion or do you crunch the bass signal with distortion as well ?
  9. Threads not hijacked mate good to see people helping each other i've already got my answer out of it so good thread
  10. Can it not be a 'Dyad' two note chord or is that only on piano ? Like E minor & some of the sus chords in A & D.
  11. thats great I've bookmarked exactly what i need cheers !!
  12. https://soundcloud.com/user-572105809 this song uses it for the first chord i didn't know what it is but it sounded nice so i played it the verse sequence is that chord then Dmaj 7 then A major. I wanted to know in case i could try playing it on ukulele but i need to know what it is first so i can find it.
