  1. So lets recap this post...it went from Gibson prices rising as a starting point, quickly morphed into trouble with wife and  metabolic steroids .....Texas gas price and it finally settled upon a very important question:

Did you ever accidently sit on your balls?

Great job guys, you definitely earned some SGT Pepper Crypto coins

Comes to a US company sponsored forum to complain about their prices in Europe.  Doesn’t like the answers, so attacks those who took time from their busy day to try to help him understand.   Bill, I think we’ve got a case study in Trolling .
But I, for one, welcome him here.  We need a good laugh.

so how is your wife lately then?

    Good answers you've had.

I believe a 2007 LP Custom was made in the USA production line (as opposed to the custom shop) and would have left the factory with potted pups.  Not certain though. Your pups may have been swapped, or may have become microphonic over time. Have you had run guitar from new?

I have a 58 reissue with unpotted pups. I can stand fairly close to a 60w Marshall half stack and play loud without feedback. I might have to choose where I stand. The size of the room and position of the amp will affect that too.

With the amount of preamp stage gain you're running there you don't need to wory about different humbuckers sounding different. Almost any pup will do for total gain saturation. I doubt there would be much difference between a les Paul custom, a strat or a telecaster through that amp at that gain level.

I askes Gibson and they told me they were potted. I have not opened the guitar up yet. It does not help if I move away from amp or not.....I have LP ST and Fender Strat and both have normal feedback, but this Custom it makes your ears bleed....I hope I can sell it

That's one guess. Problem is, They used to use better products but now, and it's been going on for a long time, They use the cheapest products they can find and load them with preservatives while shooting prices sky high.  Didn't the food administration get on them for using what they called Slime, for beef? Here, they pay their employees up to $17.00 an hour or more at McDonalds.

this is guitar forum and I asked gibson question and now you are rambling about McD junk crap? What is next? Your wife making your life miserable?

Did you even go to Reverb or Ebay and see what ones in the same condition are going for? Or did you just come here to be spoon fed? What do you want for it? It doesn't matter what we think its worth, we are not selling it. The prices on Reverb are real, but someone may not want to pay that much for one. If you think its worth more that what Reverb is selling them for, then sell it for more, or if you think its worth less, sell it for less.

My response to the bite me was to the Canadian.

i know but where should he bite you?

My answer is the most correct: A guitar is worth what you want to sell it for and what someone is willing to pay for it and where you both come to an agreement . . . no more or less.

Do people think we know every current going price of used gear, especially high dollar guitars.  Then you be Mr. Helpful and tell him what his guitar that you have never seen, never played, and don't know the condition of,  what his treasure of a guitar is worth.

And I looked one up and gave him the link. So bite me.

Bite you where? In your butt? You gave such random answer you better just ignored my post.  It is like I would ask you  how much is bread in the store right now...and you would say well it costs as much as you pay for it and as much the seller sells for it....stupid reply.....I know reverb...but do you think those prices are realistic?

If the market says its worth 5k and you sell it for 5k, then it is on that day.

wow I did not know that....you must be a genious

  8. I have a good offer from somebody...but is R8 valuable?

I saw there is problem with frets, the white plastic is broken in many places....why gibson does this...why they dont make a longer fret anyways....

so what is the good deal to buy it in Europe for example?

  9. THe guitar is in top condition but the problem is with very high hissing noise when you do not play the guitar, this means when the amp is on and the guitar is plugged in...but when you start playing it the hiss goes away....so I can touch the strings and still the hissing is there...so strong my ears hurts....I already have les paul standard and there is some feedback on it too and also my fender...but on this Custom there bridge pickup just creates so much hissing it is unbearable....

I just bought it 2 days ago and I want to sell it also I dont want to pay some guy to try all kind of stuff to remove that hissing too....

so what is going on? I am really dissapointed.....

that high pitch hiss can be heard at 0:40 in the video with bridge pickup , it is super annoying and it hurts your ears....and also 0:55-1.00

Like I said I own lp standard from 2015 and fender strat 1996 and both dont give out that hiss sound...it is unbearable...

    here is the video

So China does not have the know how and resources to machine a 5/16 acorn nut and the truss rod to accommodate it?

i wonder the same....we better shush it here cause if they find it the chibsons will be unrecognizable

  11. 36 minutes ago, kidblast said:

the important part is just what dub said;  the tool used for adjusting the truss rod on a USA made gibson is a 5/16 hex style wrench, a fake will need an Allen wrench.

there are other red flags which I don't see yours has, so if you're at all in doubt still, just check what is under that truss rod cover.

because chines use metric and americans dont? I would think that if they make a good chibson they would at least use same screws?
