1961 Gibson Les Paul Jr SG

Recommended Posts

I believe I have a 1961 Gibson Les Paul jr SG based on the serial # but it was hard to figure out for sure. Its beat up pretty bad but I am getting married and need extra money so I'm looking to sell it or to see if anyone on here might have any info on what I might ask for it since it is in such rough shape. Or any info on the guitar in general is welcome! I know the tuning pegs aren't the originals....but I have the originals so I can get them put back on.

Crack on back of headstock.

It still works.

Well first off, selling a guitar because you are getting married is a really bad idea. That is an entirely different discussion, but seriously reconsider that whole concept. If the bride-to-be doesn't want you to play guitar anymore, or doesn't like music, or wants expensive flowers at the wedding to impress her friends - trust me it ain't gonna be a great long term relationship.

As to the guitar itself it is not worth a great deal IMO. It is beat up badly, and that crack at the headstock is scary. One good whack and the whole head could come off - especially if it is indeed a 43 year old guitar and the wood has dried out. The tuners aren't really a detractor, they probably function better than the originals and as long as you include the originals a buyer can't knock the price down for that.
