newlife15 Posted August 19, 2013 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Good day all, A friend of mine recently purchased a Epi Les Paul Standard Plus Pro. It's a 2012 model Serial # starts with 1205. Is there a difference in the pickups used on the 2012 compared with the 2013 model? I think the website mentions Alnico Pro Pickups as opposed to Probucker 2 and 3 for 2013.. can anyone clarify? Bluemans335 Posted August 19, 2013 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Both PU's are part of Epi's upgrade program, both are PAF types with A2 magnets, have high quality materials, and both sound very good. Probuckers are designed to be similar to Burstbuckers (not Burstbucker Pros). They're 4-wire so that push-pulls can be used with them. I prefer both of them to Gibson '57 Classics.
