maff
My Aj220 is beginning to mature the more I play it and now the sustain is beginning to lengthen and become amazing. The one thing I have noticed about this is that in some songs I have to mute notes more than I did when it was new and it can be a pain sometimes. I'm due a string change soon, will the new strings D'Darrio 12/53 lights shorten or increase the sustain? I wouldn't want much more sustain than I have at the moment. maff
By the way, when I first purchased the guitar it had about 12 seconds of full six string open note sustain, now its closer to 14 seconds.
capmaster
Breaking in a good guitar will cause an increase in sustain. Using lighter gauge and mellower sounding strings usually makes notes die faster, but will also limit the maximum volume. You may also have to pick a little harder for achieving the same loudness, compared to heavier and brighter sounding strings.
