TrevorMarty
Hey Gang- I'm the new guy here and am looking for a good non invasive pick up solution For my late 20's Gibson L-1. It's a parlor style archtop, and I was wondering if anyone has had good experience with this. Thanks for your time folks. Trevor Marty Ps you can see me playing it here. I'm on the left singing. Stefano Sunburst
I use a Schertler Basik on my L00 Legend. You stick it on the top with the supplied inert putty. It's not a piezo, but some sort of mic element. Sounds quite natural and is easy to put on and remove. A lot of gain, before feedback. Not overly expensive and high quality. The trick is to roll the putty into a ring around the element, so it's not making direct contact with the top, otherwise it picks up too much body noise. Takes a while to find the sweet spot. I like it about half way between the treble side of the bridge and the body edge (lower bout). Totally non-invasive. Works for me anyway.
