LE Lefty Casino

My first post and I know I'm know going to get flack for no pics, but I'm traveling and will post them when I get home. Yesterday I received, what many of us lefties consider a "holy grail" guitar, a "Limited Edition", (1000) VSB lefty Casino. I got it through Jim at Southpaw Guitars and I have to say, I'm really impressed. It came really well set up, in tune with some nice case candy. I will give the fit and finish a 9, as there are a few small finish details that you notice when you go over it with a fine tooth comb. The neck feels great, the Rosewood board is very good quality and tight grain. I've never seen the Elitist or JL but for $600.00 it's a really good quality guitar. The action was a little high and I changed the strings to my favorite, GHS Burnished Pure Nickel, 10's. The pups are good, but a little muddy. I've read that some people find the neck "too thin", I would say it's on the thin side, but much more comfortable to play than the baseball bat of a DOT.

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years, have owned just about every guitar made and I can say that this ones a keeper. Having said that, I am going to make some changes, as I feel this is a great platform guitar for mods.

My mods will be:

TonePros/Kluson plastic oval button tuners

Bourns 500K linear taper volume pots

Bourns 500K audio taper tone pots

Orange drop caps .018uf

50's Gibson wiring

Lollar 50's wind dogear pups

Pickguardian one ply, brown tortoise pickguard

I want it to look and sound like and early 60's Casino. Once I've got all the work done I'll post some pics and sound clips, ( I might even do a youtube video). Thanks and I'll keep you posted.

Congratulations! The pleas of lefties were finally heard and the last time the topic was started here a good number of right-handed players also lent their support, which was nice. You're right in saying that the regular Casino is a great platform for mods and you should be very pleased when you've completed the ones you're planning. It'll be good to see more lefty Casinos here as my 2003 was the only one posted in the "Let's See Your Epiphones!" thread.
