Iommi pickups

So I'm thinking about getting Iommi pickups for the bridge in both my SGs. They're 2013 models, which unless I'm mistaken have 57 Classics stock.

 

I know the tone will be different but is it something you need a professional ear to detect, or does the difference really whack you over the head?

 

I'm also wondering if any additional changes are needed. I've read posts on the web here and there that suggest other modifications to the electronics are needed to make these pickups really deliver. But I don't know anything about this stuff so I want to make sure what I'm getting into before I order them.

Thanks. Maybe I'll just try it on one guitar first and see how it goes, which makes sense in any case. I'll also put the 490R and 498T on my to-try list. Appreciate the tip.
