DrJustice
Does anybody know anything about the single coil pickups in the SG Standard SC3, like the one in the avatar? I've asked around, but so far they remain a mystery. Anything about specs and history to sound opinions would be interesting. I'm very happy with the sound, although at least one experienced guitarist has swapped them out. I've made some measurements on mine: they give more than 1.5V peak to peak with no load, and the DC resistance is 5.5kOhm. DJ --
Gibson Gear01
Hi Dr. Justice, The single coil pickups for that model is wound with 42 gauge plain wire and have 2 small ceramic magnets. Tonally, we wanted a hot, beefy single coil. Glad you like them.
DrJustice
Thank you for the reply! So I take it they're sepcially made just for the SC3 then. Are they identical to the ones in the SG Special 3SC? DJ --
Gibson Gear01
Yes, that is correct.
