StephanStanton
Hi all, I'm new to the Gibson family :-) I received a vintage Gibson archtop as a gift from friends. As far as my knowledge goes, this must be a L50 Gibson with added on pickup. The Guitar was found in an antique shop in Pretoria South Africa less than a year ago. The serial number in 5681 6 (The '5' could actually be a '6' the stamp inside the F-hole is a bit faded) any information regarding this instrument would be fantastic. Kind regards
ksdaddy
It definitely looks like a post-war L-50 to me, with the bound fingerboard and trapezoid inlays. It has 19 frets so it's pre-1955, and the factory order number of 5681 shows up as a 1950 using the only source I know of. I would be comfortable calling this a 1950 L-50. Looks like the tuners have been changed as well.

Many Thanks...much appreciated :-) That would sound about right...and give a lot more clarity on the guitar's history... :-)
