jack gibson
I have a Gibson J-40 I purchased about 1973. It has a number on the back BOO4949 Can anyone tell me more about this guitar? I like the light finger action on it.
ksdaddy
It's your basic Gibson box. Gibson was struggling to maintain a presence in the low priced field and the J40 was one example of that effort. It was no better or worse than any other in that era, just stripped down. The biggest difference is the pinless bridge, which I don't think they used on any other model. I almost think some J40s had pin bridges but most were pinless.
