Jimbly
Hi - can anyone tell me when Gibson changed the shape of the J-50 from rounded ( James Taylor style) to more of a flat top? Thanks J
zombywoof
I always assumed it followed the J45 specs so the change to square shoulders would have been in 1969. Edited November 17, 2019 by zombywoof

I always figured it had to do with the popularity of the Hummingbird. The SJ got square shoulders in 1962 followed quickly by the B45-12. Doing away with the last remaining slope shoulder jumbos may have also been a cost saving thing as the tops now became interchangeable. I am actually surprised he J45/50 retained slope shoulders as long as it did. Edited November 18, 2019 by zombywoof
