oldtimer82
Wondering if anyone on site might guide me towards where I could find out production dates from serial number for 1st Gibson Firebird Vll produced in 1963? I Purchased serial number 144381 for my dad in 1967 from the original owner; My dad traded in a ES-330 and cash for an organ for my mom, which turned out to be a big mistake as he did not like the Firebird ..... so it has been under beds in the original case for some 30 years in California and the last 20 in Arizona. I have the original receipt from when I purchased it in 1967 so I am pretty sure that it is as the serial number suggests, mfg in 1963 but just trying to verify information before I start getting ready to sell. Personal info: I am 82 years old and have been retired many years, live in the greater Phoenix area. Always wanted to play guitar but life did not work out that way' Thanks in advance for any helpful info regarding the above. tx-ogre
Welcome aboard. If you haven’t already reached out to them, you may want to contact Gibson Customer Service: https://www.gibson.com/Support/Customer-Service I have contacted them on a couple of occasions over the years and they were usually quite helpful. You can also post to the Gibson USA forum and have a good chance of receiving an answer. My wife and I lived in Tucson from 1998-2009 and really liked it there. Although from 1998-2003, I spent a lot of my job-related time in either Phoenix and/or the border areas (Douglas, Naco, Nogales or Lukeville/Ajo areas. If it hadn’t been for my wife’s family, and especially our grandkids living in the Austin area, we most likely would have stayed and retired in Tucson. I did contact Gibson Customer Support and after sending several photo's of guitar they did respond verifying that the guitar is in fact one of the 20 produced in 1963. Thanks again for your help.
