sunburstfaded
I'm thinking about buying a Les Paul Traditional because they are cheaper by a few hundred pounds than the new Standards in the UK. Can anyone tell me if you can swap out the Kluson tuners and fit Grovers without having to drill on the holes on the headstock? I prefer Grovers, have got a set or two lying around and reckon it would be better than going the extra £200 ($400) price hike up to a new Standard. whoobla
You would just really need to look at the hole by removing the tuner. I prefer the Grovers too. My ES 339 hole (on the heahstock) is 10mm. Works with my Grovers.
sunburstfaded
A few years back all Gibsons came with the narrow headstock holes, but the fact that the 2008 Standards have Grovers fitted made me wonder if the Traditionals come with the same size hole too? Surely they wouldn't have two different production lines making headstocks with different size holes? I had an SG special from about 2004 and the holes were narrow, but the SG special I bought last year came with the larger diameter headstock holes. EVH5445
I got Grovers put on my Les Paul Studio, they just dropped in, no drilling.
