2004 Explorer with aftermarket paintjob....and want to remove it.

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I just bought a 2004 Explorer, checked the serial and all is well. It sounds incredible however it did come with an after market paintjob. I've messaged the original artists - www.hot-paint.de to no avail, The body is acceptable but Id like to restore the headstock.  I very gently sanded with 600 grit for a minute on the headstock as per images hence why the logo is fading, I think Im getting through the thick layers of the finish.... Not sure if the finish is poly or nitro but feels hard.  IF anyone has any insight as to how I'd go about this I'd seriously appreciate it. Leaning towards stripper but obviosuly terrified of buggering it up. Like I said the body I can live with but I need that mother of Pearl to show through on the head!
Pictures enclosed.
Thankyou!
Colin
