Riffster Posted May 23, 2009 Share Posted May 23, 2009 In simple terms and talking strictly solid body guitars Fender was initially Country (Telecaster) and Western Swing (Stratocaster). Gibson was Jazz (les Paul). How things shook out and turned out later on is a very different story. I would not say Fender is a rocking guitar unless you slam a humbucker in it, which is a Gibson invention so in reality you are trying to mimick the Gibson sound. Welcome to the forum by the way.
