VBB
I just put a set of the flat wound Pyarmid gold strings on the robot and they definatley sound great. Much more bluesy and old classic sounding. Tamed the pickups a little. Reminds me of that Dicky Betts sound. With flat wound you don't get the screetch when sliding fingers, which is cool, but you also can't get that pick scrape either. My amp seemed to have more headroom before tube breakup which is great for a 5 watt Epi Valvle Jr. Cords seem to ring out better with more of a melodic and musical sound. So far, very happy! stoz
What kind of music do you play? I always thought those strings were for jazzers.
VBB
I play some Skynard, SRV, Molly Hatchet, GnR, 3 Days Grace, Chavel, 30 seconds to Mars, Johnny Cash, and Shine Down. To name a few. I can see why they would be good for Jazz, but for me they brought my LP and my amp to life. Made it hard to put down the guitar the last few days.
