I can't seem to date the year of manufactor, can any one help please? The serial number is inked on the back of the headstock. It is 4 6097. Any help would be greatfully recieved. Tim Plains Posted September 27, 2009 Share Posted September 27, 2009 4 6097 4 = '54 reissue 6 = year made, 1996 or 2006 097 = it's the 97th '54 reissue to be made in 1996 or 2006. That's it, you can't get anymore info out of the serial number than that. Also, doesn't mean yours is the 97th gold top, just the 97th '54 reissue.
