Hi all, I just recieved a guitar named "THE GIBSON".This guitar looks very old,does anyone have any info on finding the value of this guitar.i found a serial number.I believe its mahogony wood but not sure.Thank you for any info.

Well - pictures help a great deal, and posting it in a forum dedicated to that type of guitar might get more responses (like - if it's an acoustic - post it in the acoustic forum, etc;). There is a mine of info here for the tapping - but the right people need to see it before they can answer.....

Hi thanks for your response,it is an acoustic.I,m thinking its called a parlour guitar,it has a smaller body,i,ll try to get a picture posted.I,m more interested in the sound than the value.I,m trying to get the website that will give info on any guitar as long as you have the serial number.Thanks again for your reply and I will post in acoustic forum next time.

You can contact Gibson with the serial # and they should be able to tell you what it is.

wow - ty,those sites are very informative.I immediatly saw an identical guitar.I grew up in Memphis and I believe there is a Gibson factory in Memphis now.I,ll have more info when I check out the website more thouroughly.Thanks again[biggrin]
