ckfoley
I was following a thread where the OP asked what Les Paul to purchase for a specific budget and many replies said to look for used guitars. I'd like to get a '57 Reissue so I looked at some of the online sites to see if any savings can be had. EBay has a listing for a 2010 R7 Darkback that is different from any I've seen (http://cgi.ebay.com/2010-GIBSON-LES-PAUL-CUSTOM-SHOP-1957-HISTORIC-57-VOS_W0QQitemZ360230310211QQcmdZViewItemQQptZGuitar?hash=item53df665143). The only versions I've heard of have an almost black back (Gibson says they had matching black pick guard, etc. in '57). However, this 2010 version has a reddish back (described as burgundy). I think it looks much nicer than the black back since you can see the grain. But, it's not listed as an option on the Gibson site. Is this something new for 2010? Tim Plains
That looks typical for a historic with a dark back.

ckfoley
Yeah......that looks like any other historic with a dark back....... Really? This is what the darkbacks look like that I've seen: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Custom-Shop-1957-Les-Paul-Goldtop-Darkback-Reissue-Electric-Guitar?sku=517826 If the typical darkback has more of a burgundy color I like it much better!
