doublecutjr
Hi.......... I would always stress chord progressions. Begin with simple 1,4,5 blues progressions ans then migrate to more complex progressions. Try D, A, G................ then C, G, D, A
saturn
Learning something called Chord Scales is very useful. Know that the Major Scale follows the pattern of - whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, half step. To keep it simple, use key of C, since there are no Sharps or Flats. Make a Cmaj7 barre chord on the third fret. To make it even more simple, only worry about strings 5-2. Now move up to the next appropriate fret on each string for the next note in the major scale. You'll find that you play the following chords up the neck until you're back at Cmaj7 on the 15th fret: Cmaj7, Dmin7, Emin7, Fmaj7, G7, Amin7, Bmin7-flat5, Cmaj7. It works for all major keys.
