bigbike4
I am no guitar expert by any stretch of the imagination, but have worked on a few mandolins with "top cave in" Generally it is caused because of 1)inferior wood used 2) Wood that was "fashioned" (shaped, scraped etc) a little too thin in an area that is under tremendous tension-ie like under or around a bridge. (That's where us banjo players have an advantage-we can just up the tension on our head a little to get rid of it[biggrin] ) I have an autoharp that is doing the same thing-the top is warping or "caving in" because of 32 strings tension causing the middle to back bow.
