Computer Power Question

Guys,

I have an ATI HD4870X2 monster of a video card for a new desktop system I am building... The Video card is supposed to have a minimum requirement power supply of 750W...

At the moment I only have a 600W power supply ( A Decent one). I have been told that 750W is too much and the 600W is more than ample to run the card...

Will I damage the card if I run it???

Does different operating systems manage power in different ways or are they all the same??

Im currently running Windows 7 Enterprise Edidtion.....

Any help would be greatly recieved..

Regards

Less power should not ruin your video card. At worst, your components will not fire up at all. Just make sure you have the proper number and type of connectors.

Upgrade the PSU as soon as you can. More power becomes important on the higher end systems. I had a 550W PSu that couldn't handle my new system when it was built, and it's the monster you're building.

Hope this helps!
