Vickj55
I'm trying to restore a 1934 Gibson L-50. The Gibson logo is missing. Does anyone know where I might find one?
L5Larry
A '34 L-50 was an archtop, roundhole, flat(ish) bottom, with a stubby trapeze tailpiece. If that is what you have (in '35 the L-50 became an f-hole guitar), the proper logo would be the silver stenciled large slanted flamboyant script logo used ONLY on budget model guitars. There is a photo of a '34 L-50 on page 129 of Tom Wheeler's book "American Guitars" c.1982 first edition. The large script stenciled logo used on the budget model guitars IS DIFFERENT than the large script INLAYED logo used on the higher end models, the script is slightly different. Repro parts for budget model guitars are almost non-existant. If you can find a good photo to reproduce digitally, you could have a "heat transfer" repro made by most any print shop. In fact, heat transfer printer is paper is available for your home inkjet or laser printer.
