RW gives you a quick attack, but maybe too much in the way of bass/sustain/overtones (lines dont ring as clear). Gary Davis is the classic example of blues on a maple jumbo. There's always exceptions. Skip James played a D28 (rw), but his stuff is sparse, so it worked. Ditto Ry Cooder (who used to slide on a D45), or Stefan Grossman, who palys Davis stuff on a rw jumbo but has a deft touch. ps re flavors. mahogany = strawberyy.
