dberch
What is the difference between thiese two? I'm guessing the J-185 is 16" body and CJ-165 is 15", but I can't verify that. Gibson site doesn't list body width for J-185. Any other difference? Thanks! David
Guest
The 165 with its smaller body a lovely guitar to "sit n' strum" (or fingerpick, etc.,), while the 185 will *generally* possess greater volume. Both comfortable guitars, but the 185 in my experience has more volume, and a bigger voice. I have liked the r/w version of the 165 more than the maple version. For small-bodied maple Gibsons, I haven't found a nicer more consistent model than the "early" L-200 EmmyLou, before it assumed the geometry of the J-165 last year, or thereabouts.
