A Tale of Two Buskers

This noontime on our downtown mall there were two buskers. One was an older guy in a wheel chair and the other was a young kid with sparse facial hair. The older guy had an Estaban and the kid had some Gibson slope shoulder clone probably of Asian descent. Maybe surprisingly, the Estaban was much better sounding despite all the negative feelings many have toward them. It may have been due to the players ability but I don't think so. The Estaban sounded pretty good.

There may be different models but my brother bought an Estaban and that thing is complete crap. It has a acrylic fretboard or something like acrylic. Very cheap sounding.

I've heard similar stories and have seen pictures of some really crappy, toy-like guitars being sold as Estabans but this one sounded pretty good. Maybe he heard the criticism and decided to put out better quality guitars. I wouldn't call it fabulous but pretty good.
