My project

I know somebody just had one of these project topics....but here I go anyway!

Tell me if you think this is worth my time. I like it, but have had it for three years.

As stated in the other projects post, I bought a new trapeze tailpiece, vintage Grover tuners, new pots and knobs, p-90 pickups and a new toggle switch.

How hard would it be to have the pickup holes filled partially for the p 90's to fit?

I am not wanting this to be a museum piece. Just to have it around or hanging on the wall to pull down when I don't want to get into the cases for my Casinos.

What you have there is a 5102 E / EA-250. I'm not sure how much money I'd invest in any work but I'll tell you what I would do if I were you. I'd take the truss rod cover off and put it on whichever is your favorite of your two Casinos since that one has the epsilon at the correct angle like the Kalamazoo version and would add a large degree of cosmetic authenticity. You can find something close on E Bay for pretty cheap if you wanted to save the original TRC from your Casino. It's possible that you could have made or make yourself with a Dremel tool laminated plastic (like pickguard material) pickup bezels to cover the holes and allow you to mount the the P-90 but I wouldn't probably invest a lot of money in something really involved. Gibson did something like this in 1969 when they screwed up the pickup routing on their gold top reissues and they called them "goof rings". I will admit that your guitar is the best looking of that model I've ever seen with the red stripped away and with decent electronics you might be able to create something useful with it. Good luck.

...and Al's your uncle.
