Morten M
In theory the better the pu is fastened to the body the more precise result you should get. Pu rings are better than fastening them to a pickguard with only two screws. But what about the material the rings are made of. How much is lost in the plastic they're normally made of. What of metal? Decided to try out for myself and bought a metal ring at Axesrus, UK. Everything is a perfect fit. Light pressure has to be applied adjusting the Gibson pu down as the springs cannot do the job. Tight fit indeed! The sound of the pu became much more firm and well defined. Awesome! Whether it looks nice I'm not so sure about. But it works! And this'll definitely be my main gigging axe this friday and saturday.

Ian Martin
AWESOME axe. If it was bound, I would buy one immediately. Are you planning on keeping the metal PU ring and replacing the black one?
Morten M
I'll change bridge ring too and see if it's possible to get that magic extra more clarity and definition. Think the silverburst finish can bear it.
