bobv Posted June 9, 2008 Share Posted June 9, 2008 There are lots of unofficial serial number databases, but the best bet is to send a few pictures of the guitar, front back, headstock (shrink them down so they're not to big for Gibson's in-box) and email them to customer service. They no longer provide build info on this forum for individual questions, but they do try to help for direct inquiries. Incidentally, if yours is real then by advertising the full serial number you just gave some faker one more piece of the puzzle to try to pass off a "fifty-three." Also I'd be concerned if yours got stolen, someone else could theoretically claim it knowing the serial number. Probably taking identity-theft-protection a bit too far, but it's common practice to say xx or xxx for the middle numbers when posting online, and I believe these are the reasons.
