Ron G
Strings are VERY subjective - you'll try many brands, types and guages before you find what you like. I'd suggest you start with nickel roundwound 10's from a major string manufacturer like D'Addario, Ernie Ball, etc. - depending on what your favorite store carries. TWANG
First guage.. bending is easier with lighter guages.. but tone is less with lighter guages. probably .010s are most typical and Rons recomendation is mine as well. I like Everlys.. but I buy Musicians Friends brand.. the Rogues.. because they are so cheap.. not bad strings at all, either!, for my builds.. no sense wasting five dollar strings when you're going to have them on and off several times. And I can tell you that's a good cheap alternative to brand names. so.. I'd also recommend you buy two sets of Rogues, wont cost more than one.. and see if you like .009s or .010s. those guages are close enough that you wont have to do anything except put them on.. even the intonation will still be close. your lp 100 came with .010's, at least the one I had did. Some younger or just starting players may find they like the .009s. They're a little softer and easier when you're new to it. And there are plenty of pros who use that guage.. as well as others. msak24cardss
I've always stuck with Ernie Ball Super Slinky, try a few different gauges to get your feel for the neck. They also make mixxed sets that are heavy on the bass end (SRV) type.
