sharpester Posted December 16, 2008 Share Posted December 16, 2008 Hi all, I picked up a new 'burst Dot on Saturday which is I am really pleased with. There are a couple of questions that I am hoping someone may be able to help me with...... 1: The feels quite 'sticky' I am guessing this will lessen with playing time? (More an observation than a question!) 2: Is it possible to change the pick guard with a Gibson alternative without major surgery as I prefer the slimmer profile at the neck? As far as the sticky neck, the poly finish will not have the smoother feel of a neck with a stain finish. Some have sanded it down to take the poly finish off. I left mine alone. The gibson pickguards will not fit without modification. Twang makes them and can hook you up. I had 2 made at www.terrapinguitars.com and I'm very happy with it. sharpester Posted December 16, 2008 Author Share Posted December 16, 2008 Thanks for the reply, The neck doesn't worry me it gives me an excuse to keep playing it, ie "I can't do the washing up now, I am trying to wear in the neck on this guitar!!!" As for the pick guard there is a company in the UK that will make me one, using the stock unit as a template for the fixing holes. Apologies for the lack of pics I will rectify this evening!
