RedHouse
Hi, Left-handers are always making trouble... I was looking through an Epiphone guitar catalog from 1999. On the cover is a beautiful blond with a beautiful turquoise Casino. I have only recently started liking the style of the archtop guitars (and Telecasters) so maybe that is why I never noticed that the Casino is also available left-handed. Well, I fell in love tonight and now I am on the hunt for a left-handed, turquoise Epiphone Casino. That won't be easy to find. I don't want this to just be a "Wanted" post, so, is an Epiphone Casino a good guitar? Were they built well and did they include decent pickups? Thanks, Justin
dubstar
I don't think they ever made a LH Casino in turquoise...NA, VS, and maybe ebony and red...completely discontinued in all finishes, so you can't really be picky at this point...
bluelake07
Doesn't mean there aren't any, but I've never seen a turquoise left-handed Casino. The only colors I'm aware of in lefty were vintage sunburst and natural. Mine is a natural and yes, it is a good guitar and built well for the price. The pickups are decent; some people swap them out for Kent Armstrongs or others, but a lot of owners like the stock ones. If you're looking to play heavy metal music, it is not the guitar for you. Being a hollow body, they tend to feedback more than other electrics; not always a bad thing! If you search "epiphone casino" on YouTube, you can hear some owners play theirs and decide if the sound appeals to you.
RedHouse
Does anyone know if Epiphone does special orders? For example, if a long and exhausting search turns up nothing, could I special order a left handed turquoise Casino (or maybe even another archtop)? cookieman15061
Well you could always find a righty and flip it and restring it ala Paul Mccartney.
bluelake07
There is no Epiphone Custom Shop. Epiphone stopped making lefty Casinos when they moved production from Korea to China. There are no turquoise Epis left or right-handed of any model being produced now. Cookieman is right; if you gotta have a turquoise Casino you will need to restring a righty and it will be a used guitar.
RedHouse
I don't think I'd like a Chinese guitar (although I love my Ibanez acoustic which is made in China) so I would not mind a used one. It looks like it would be comfortable enough to use a flipped archtop so that is definitely an option.
