Sound cutting out!

Hi, not sure where i should have posted this question so sorry if this is the wrong place.

I own a epiphone casino which i play through a peavey stereo chorus 400. I have it hooked up through a zoom g2 effects pedal. my problem is that as soon as i start to turn the volume up the sound cuts out. i am not playing it too loud (at around 2/3 on the guitar's volume dial), and everything stays lit up but it keeps cutting out as i play.

Does anybody have any idea what the cause of this could be???

you mean you turn the volume up on your guitar, past 2/3rds and it cuts out.

Or you mean that at around 2/3rd on the pot, you're experiencing intermittetent signal loss.

Usually, that means there's some dirt in the pot.

so first,

turn pot to zero.. pull up on the knob lightly while turing it up to about halfway.. and back to zero.. several times.

then put it about halfway up.. and do the same thing, turning it up to max and back down, several times.

repeat the whole process but this time pushing down on the knob lightly as you do it.

that way, you are forcing the wiper to clean the path.. and often that does it right there.

you can also buy a can of electronic cleaner spray for pots that cleans them up.

If I understand you correctly, that's most likely the problem.

Try it out and get back to us.. not a lot of pressure.. a wiper is just like a windshield wiper, only it's between two parts which

are coated with a material that gradually allows more elec. signal to pass.. but dirt gets in there now and then and it will cut out.

I should say.. first check to see if the nut is tight on that pot.

sometimes the nut comes loose a bit.. then when you turn the pot it drags the wires around inside and shorts out.

So FIRST pull the knob and make sure the nut is tight.
