Epiphone les paul alpine white vs ebony

Hi all,

I recently visited a guitar center and i got to pick up both the Epiphone les paul alpine white and ebony. I immediately noticed that the ebony one is a lot heavier than the alpine white one. And before i picked them up I thought they were exactly the same except different color, but now I can't find what are the specific differences between these two guitars.

Is white one hollow body and the ebony solid body? Differences in material/sound?

I want a guitar that'll last me a few years. So if you guys could help me out here, I'd greatly appreciated it.

Thanks.

Since the Epiphone LP Customs are made of "mahogany" (a term that encompasses several species of wood), there can be considerable differences in weight and density between any 2 individual guitars, even if they're the same model and color, and both solid or both chambered.

I don't think a heavier one is automatically more durable --- go for the one that feels and sounds better to you.

well, there's another fact tho too.

on the official website under the Epiphone les paul studio section, they don't officially list the alpine white color.

also guitarcenter.com lists the alpine white as this

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Les-Paul-Studio-Electric-Guitar-104298773-i1174173.gc

and all the official colors listed as this separate listing

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Epiphone-Les-Paul-Studio-Electric-Guitar-101835650-i1150003.gc

Epiphone must have made the alpine white guitar too, but it's strange how it'd have it's own $100 lower price point with just a difference in color.

Thanks for the help thus far, altho if anyone has any other ideas plz shoot.

You won't find lots of alpine white Studio Guitars though.. they are limited...there are so many guitars and so many colors that Epi's website hasn't updated yet...they generally don't put that limited edition colors on their sites...well yes the colour does make a bit of a difference like you can see it on the Standard plus and Plain tops.. it's just cosmetic buddy Epiphones are one hell of an *** kicker, color them or don't, they sure kick some serious ***..
