As promised, here's my diagram:

I used the blue wire just to help keep which wire is which straight, obviously any color of wire will work fine. (I reccomend 22 gauge stranded copper hookup wire, available at Radio Shack.) Make sure you solder the ground points to the back of the pots... I tried to make that clear in the drawing as well. Normally, the post of the pot is bent back and soldered directly to the back of the pot, your factory pots shold be done this way... Don't forget to connect the wire that goes to the bridge to one of those ground points too, that's what keeps your strings grounded. Also, when soldering anything on the pots, MAKE SURE THE POT IS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE "OFF" POSITION. Otherwise, you could end up with "dead spots" where the signal cuts out while you turn the pot. Hope that is clear enough for you to follow... It should work fine the way you want it to. You might want to have someone else check over it first though, as I don't have a way of wiring it up to test it here. I'm just going by theory... hence why I say it should work.

Best of luck, and let us know how it turns out!

Oh, by the way, on the Duncan wiring scheme, the black and green wires can be interchanged if you run into phasing issues between it and your existing pickups. That throws some people off...

Looks like you have made good choices... I definitely reccomend the metal jackplate. I put those on every Epi I buy, first thing. WAY better than the stock plastic ones. I can already tell you though, if you put that pickup in the mid position, you'll regret not getting one at least for the bridge as well, if not the neck too. Actually, you might even want to consider getting a different pickup for the neck and bridge... Maybe the VEH model for the bridge, and the neck version of the Classic 59 for the neck.

Personally though, I would go a different route on wiring it all up if it were my guitar. I would replace all 3 pups, and have individual volumes for all three like you plan... but instead of making the selector control the mid pickup, I would keep it as a selector between the neck and bridge pickups like on a regular Paul. The mid pickup could be blended in with the volume in any setting, and I would use push-pull pots on each volume control so that each pickup could be independently switched from single to humbucking modes. I think that would give you more versatility, IMO. But, if you're only going to replace the one, then I suppose your proposed scematic would be fine. Myself, I like the pickup selector option, as opposed to having to roll a knob to change pickups. But if just having knobs suits your playing style, then go for it! Again, let us know how it turns out!

i know its annoying, but he's like the only luthier in the 50km radius. So you need to book an appointment for a certain time with him. When i do, ill have my guitar , the new gear and the schematic ready. All he'll do is professionally assemble it for free. And its hard to get an appointment with that guy, his experience makes up for it.
