MaxHart85231281734137
Is it possible to put dog ear style P90's on a Dot , and if so how much cosmetic work is needed if any at all?, or will it just leave big wholes?
Ron G
Wouldn't it just be a lot easier to use humbucker-sized P90s? IIRC, previous discussions on this topic concluded that it was impractical.

pohatu771
Based on my memory of a Gibson Spirit with the humbuckers replaced with P-90s, you would have to expand the existing holes (on the ends) to fit. There would then be space at the top and bottom of the pickup where the humbucker was. I don't have anything to compare, but I don't know how much of the space would be covered by the dog-ear cover. You could always make a ring, I suppose, to cover it. The Spirit had soapbars in it, so it was (I assume) slightly smaller. A humbucker-size P-90 would be easier, though, by far. No modifications to the wood at all.
