robintiba
Hi guys, is there any way that I can remove the pickup guards on my Les Paul? Is it even a good idea? It sure would look cool lol.
Swoop
You mean the pickup covers? It is possible, but I personally would not recommend it. The pickups are wax potted, which makes removing the covers a bit of a task, and you risk damaging the pickups. Plus, when you do get the covers off, you then have to remove all the wax, otherwise it looks gaudy.

leicester35
I'd use it as an excuse to drop another set of pick-ups in there. Rumour has it that once you've stripped off the wax, the actual bobbins Epiphone use are none-to-pretty (which is fair enough, the pick-ups are designed as a complete unit, and are not really made to be altered in this way). If you're considering this for the look of the thing, then fair enough...but soundwise, I've never been convinced that it makes any difference.
