CajunBlues
So I just bought one of these: http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-Limited-Edition-Les-Paul-Special-SC-Electric-Guitar-584590-i1506645.Music123 I just can't get over the finish on these the red ones... Is it possible the body is covered by a fake veneer ? Or is the finish showing the real wood ? I also had to drill open the pot holes to fit my new wiring and I noticed the wood is very light in color... Maybe this is some sort of alder or alder mahogany blend ? Anyone know ? The wood itself doesn't bother me but I am curious to know if epiphone applied some fake wood on the outside
Hungrycat
First off: Yes. It has a veneer. But it's not 'fake' by any means. It's real wood. Just a paper thin slice is all. Secondly: It's probably made of one of the many many many (MANY MANY MANY MANY...) species of wood in the mahogany family, some of which can be VERY light in color.
