albertimusprime Posted July 7, 2010 Share Posted July 7, 2010 New Member - couple dozen guitars,mostly Epi's and Gibsons. I see a lot of used Epi's for sale on local KIJIJI and so on. Not that I need anymore guitars, but... What do you guys think of the cream P-90's on the EPI LP goldtop? How would the pickups compare to other LP style guitars with P90's , like say the P90 Gibson vintage mahogany LP, or the Guild Blues, or the Washburn WI66 ? brad1 Posted July 7, 2010 Share Posted July 7, 2010 Welcome to the forum! You should look at page 2. There is a thread on there about Epi P90s vs. Gibson P90s. Pickups and guitars are two different things. Apples and oranges. Your mixing your apples with your oranges as I see it. If you want to compare pups, you need to do it on the same guitar. You are taking two different pups, and putting them on two different guitars. I'm not sure how one does a comparison that way. But having no experience with either, it seems pretty easy to surmise that a cheaper (less expensive) pup put on a cheaper (less expensive) guitar is probably going to sound, well, cheaper/inferior.
