ltkojak
Hi guys, I think I need a hand here... so's the deal: I've bought a second hand set of what I think are Gibson '57 Classic, going from the description I've found around. They measure 8.68k and 8.99k, they're both wax-potted and have a maple spacer. Today I've got another set of what I'm told are Gibson Classic '57 to put in a 335 copy and, measuring'em, I've found out they measure "only" 8.22k and 8.54k. The p'ups are covered, so I can't look inside so, how can I tell? Do you think Gibson changed their specs overtime or one of the sets' not a Classic '57? Both sets have the same black w/golden letters "Patent Applied For" sticker... how can you tell if they're Burstbuckers, for example? I can't find any "official" Gibson specs on the net... can any of you help? The Gibson site is no help, as they don't publish any specs on their p'ups... do anybody know any other site or forum where I can get the real specs on Gibson p'ups? Yours very truly, Pepe aka Lt. Ricochet
I had a friend measure his Classic 57 and it was 7.7KO. I think a difference of 0.XX K is within Gibsonspecs tolerance. But anything over 1.XX seems a bit much.
