motowntom
Hi all, jut got a showroomnew ft-145 in sunburst. I was leery after reading about some of the design flaws in these, but had to go see it since the finish matches a 1966 casino i have. The guitar is like I said showroom new and has little playing marks for a 37 y.o. instrument. After changing strings, the action was still a bit hight, so I took the neck off and added a shim. Then guitar now plays like butter, and has a HUGE! tone, the zero fret made the after shim set up simple. I now have a grat sounding and playing guitar that can't be toughed by anything tht you might buy new for $125.00. i will post some picks this weekend. Also, any one with a bolt on nesk ft from the 70's don't be afraid to shim those necks, I beleave alot of people get rid of them because of the high action. TommyK
As long as the neck block is secure, you're good as gold. Congrats on the Japanese "Texan"! I used to have my FT145SB as my avatar, but when they consolidated the boards, I was left with Check Point Charlie from the Gibson board. I am tiring of "Charlie". Maybe I'll reinstate "Epi" as my avatar.
